Environmental impact

We know that climate change is the biggest problem the world will face in the coming decades. It’s up to all of us to tackle this challenge, so let’s do it together.

Lifetime carbon neutral

In 2021, we calculated our total historic emissions and offset them, making us certified lifetime carbon neutral in line with PAS2060.

We did this by supporting a range of projects that promote sustainable economic livelihoods and clean technology development. All of our offsets are verified by either the Gold Standard or UN CDM mechanism.

But there’s always more we can do. Our current goal is to map out a science-based pathway to achieve net zero emissions by the end of 2022, aligned with the Paris Agreement. This means reducing our carbon footprint for good. It’s a tough challenge, but we’re more than up for it. Find out how we’ll be doing this in our carbon management plan. Pathway to net zero

A top priority for us is to find ways to reduce our carbon emissions. In 2022, we made a formal commitment to the Science Based Target initiative and have until 2024 to define and publish a science-based pathway to net zero.

TCFD and SECR Disclosures

In accordance with the Taskforce on Climate Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), all material and significant climate-related information can be found in our Annual Report and Accounts FY22 – on page 34. Further details about the climate-related risks we’ve identified – and our management of these – can be found in the following link.
